Art Surprise by The Brother in Elysium

Recently I have noticed my iPhone / iPad / Macbook addiction. I honestly need to unglue these devices from my hand. If you are having this same dilemma this may be the perfect way to treat yourself or the most thoughtful gift for a friend who is tech-ed out and needs a break from his or her iPhone.  Jon Beacham of The Brother in Elysium is a bookmaker and visual artist trying to fight the technology wave. He has a full service print shop in Brooklyn and also offers an unusual service. For a small fee he will mail you five unique pieces of art throughout the course of a  year.

Each small piece of art is one of a kind, never to be repeated.  They range from handmade 16-millimeter film stills, to original collages, to original poetry and much more. You never know what to expect and that is part of what intrigues me. In addition to the art being a surprise, the delivery schedule is kept a secret as well. He keeps you guessing.  The cost for this service is $125 for the year, and that includes postage. I believe it could be the best gift you could ever give. Not sure how you will top this next year!
