Tracy Metro’s Retro Metro Boat

I’ve always wanted to design the interior of a boat. Hopefully one day I’ll get the chance to. While I was interning for a designer in Philadelphia my coworker had a chance to move to California and design yachts for a living. She turned it down. I was so furious with her! Move to Cali? Design yachts, with a ridiculous budget and maximum creativity?! That has to be a fantastic job. Ever since then I’ve been obsessed. A boat designer has to have crazy space planning skills and must be able to think outside of the box.

While browsing SpacesTV last night I came across Tracy Metro’s Retro Metro boat. In case you aren’t familiar with Tracy, she’s a TV personality with a show on SpacesTV called “I Live with My Mom”. She helps people that have moved back to their parents’ house or still live in their parents’ houses update their bedrooms. It’s really fun to see the transformation from pre-teen room to adult room, to match the growth of the client.

Tracy’s Retro Metro boat is gorgeous and very well designed. She managed to make it beautiful and function at the same time, and we all know that is hard to do! She used every inch of space, including the toe kicks in the kitchen, which she converted to drawers for extra storage. I like that everything is so thoroughly thought out, including the stove cover and entrance to the bedroom below. Have a look for yourself:
