Do you “respect wood”? If this sounds familiar, Larry David created an entire “Curb Your Enthusiasm” episode about caring for wood and using coasters. It was unbelievably funny and I’ve never forgotten it. So when I saw this Kickstarter project in the latest issue of New York Magazine I was immediately intrigued. I had to do more research right away. The Floating Mug by Tigere Chiraga is a porcelain mug that requires no coaster. This would have solved a lot of Larry’s problems!
While registering for wedding gifts, Tigere and his wife realized they didn’t have a lot of room in their New York apartment and would have to forgo a few things. He is an avid tea drinker and developed a mug that floated off of the table and would not require a coaster, to protect the wood. He came up with the idea after seeing a floating banana holder.
Tigere had a set of floating mugs made for himself in China, but has found sources to have the mugs made here, in the United States. He has teamed up with Kickstarter to gain funding for his innovative idea. A minimum order of 500 mugs is needed to get started and he has 7 days left. What do you think of The Floating Mug? Are you interested in helping?
