I’m blogging for The Out Hotel, New York City!

The Out Hotel

As you can tell, I’ve been a little busy. I have another announcement for you this week. Recently I was lucky enough to be chosen to be one of The Out hotel’s culture bloggers, along with a few other talented writers. A small group of us will be updating you on everything from style and design to art and New York City happenings. The Out is a gay urban resort, which is straight friendly, located on 42nd street. It’s actually the first resort of its kind, here in New York. It’s a complete experience, from accommodations to entertainment. You can check out the blog here – The Manifesto.

The Out Hotel

As an interior designer, what first struck me about the hotel is its gorgeous interiors. The writing team had an opportunity to walk through the space a few weeks ago. We visited XL Nightclub, walked through the restaurant KTCHN, checked out the REVIVEspa and got to take a look at the COURTYARDS.

Each space had its own personality, yet as a whole, the spaces relate very well to each other. I have to admit that the courtyards may be my favorite. They had a very Palm Springs feel, with rooms overlooking the courtyards. The idea behind the design was community. While in your room you can see what is happening throughout the other spaces, and feel you are part of a group.

The hotel already has rave reviews, and I know many more exciting things will follow. The calendar of events is already filling up, from celebrity guests hosting shows at XL and movies being shown on the Great Lawn. There will be much more to follow so stay tuned for updates!

Something I really want to point out is the option of the luxury sleep-share rooms. In addition to traditional rooms, The Out  also have quad rooms, which for a low cost, can be shared with friends. If you are traveling alone, you can reserve just a bed in the sleep share rooms. Each room has a shared bathroom, desk and large cubby to store your things. Each full sized bed is equipped with a 22″ television and a plus privacy curtain. Check out the gallery for more pictures of the rest of the hotel.

A little about a few writers on the team:

Jonathan R. Stein – There is a lot to say about Jonathan but in short, he’s pretty damn amazing. He graduated from George Washington University, has worked for some incredible publications, and most recently has co-founded VNV Media.

Lansing Moore –  Lansing recent graduate who enjoys exploring the New York City. “Writing about it keeps me sharp as I try to figure out my next step.”

Joseph Hernandez – Joseph is a young writer who has lived in about 6 neighborhoods in New York in the past year. His not-so-hiddent talent is having a sick knowledge of wine.

Cheeba – Awesome name right?! A quote from Cheeba: “The phrase “write drunk; edit sober” is such a rendition to everyday life. Capturing life’s existence is what makes a journalist and we plan to preserve the craft.”

There are a couple more fantastic writers on the team, and you’ll get to know them further as you read The Manifesto. I hope you enjoy!
