Marco Stefanelli’s Brecce Collection

It’s not hard to appreciate innovative design, especially well designed pieces that reuse and recycle without creating additional waste. Italian designer Marco Stefanelli recently created the Brecce Collection, which he showed at Fourisalone Milano 2012. For this collection Stefanelli removed fragments from tree branches, sawmill scraps and cement fragments, and replaced them with sculpted resin that contain LED lights. By doing so, he created lamps that are part natural material and part resin. These pieces are interesting not just because Stefanelli has found a way to reuse pieces of nature that normally would be discarded. They are interesting also because the mix of textures between the smooth resin paired against the rough natural materials. The result is a beautiful and sophisticated piece that will add interest to any room. What are you thoughts on the Brecce Collection?
