Life in Sketch’s Style: Mood Board

A few weeks ago I mentioned the class I’m taking with Holly of Decor8, BYW Bootcamp. Holly has asked us to do a mood board, to represent our blog. At first I thought I would do a digital mood board. I thought it would be quicker and easier to knock it this assignment out. But why just knock it out?! After an awesome nap on Saturday (yes nap, I don’t get many of those) I was feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, and I decided to go for it. We don’t have the best light in our apartment, we actually have hardly any natural light. But I worked with what I had, and I had a lot of fun working with my hands, washi-taping and photographing.

BLOGGING YOUR WAY MOOD BOARD

The mood board represents “Life in Sketch’s blog style”. While I was redesigning my blog a few months ago, I really wanted to go completely black and white, with hints of yellow. In the end, I added many pops of color. Although I love this new design, I think I should have gone with my gut. No regrets at all, this just means I’ll get to do another redesign soon! Life is all about change, right?

BLOGGING YOUR WAY MOOD BOARD

I hope you enjoyed my little hands on project. Have you done a mood board lately? What colors or objects represents you right now?

I KNOW it’s ’cause of the BYW homework but we both posted our boards today!

I like your strong striking black/white/yellow. Funny how these things work. Mood boards I mean. They WORK! Snip snip snip and arrange and glue and you have some fresh new ideas.

I should do them more often.

  2. Adore the black and white with pops of yellow! I recently finished working on a mood board along similar lines but sneaked in a bit of peachy pink http://patternandco.com/notes-from-the-sketch-book/inspiration-from-the-studio-peach-and-black/

Tina, very lovely, I had a similar color combo last year and know, once you get yellow in your moodboard, it stays there for a while:-) I particularly like the use of the different textures and your sketches. Good branding on top!
