A range cooker is a fantastic addition to any kitchen and a perfect appliance in every sense of the word. Their durability, versatility and quality make them a must-have for anyone looking to renovate their kitchen. It will come as no surprise that such an excellent product won’t come cheap so it’s best to choose the right one for your home.

With 2013 quickly approaching, here are some of the key trends you can expect that will help you select the ideal range cooker.

Retro or modern?

Everyone has an idea of the perfect home, or in this case the perfect kitchen. Some of us crave a vintage, classic look, while others tend to opt for a more contemporary, avant-garde feel. But according to a survey conducted over 4000 installations carried out last year, it seems that 51% of those asked would opt for a traditional range cooker.

Color scheme

In recent years, black has been the on-trend color for kitchen cookers and kitchen appliances, however, it seems that stainless steel and cream are the colors most seem to be choosing in 2013. In 2010 and 2011, over 40% of range cookers sold where of a cream color scheme, and with its rustic, farm house aesthetics, it’s easy to see why it’s a popular choice. However, it’s suggested that the modern feel of stainless steel range cookers and appliances will prove to be the winner in 2013.

Technology

Everyone loves a unique or useful gadget, a product you can use to make your life a little easier, or just another excuse to wow your friends and family. This is no truer than in the kitchen, with inventive and unique surges in technology seemingly being the way forward.

Induction heating is the newest technology trend in cooking. Different to the conventional gas or electric method of cooking, this method uses direct heat to a cooking vessel, rather than being transferred like the other methods available. Britannia Living’s sales and marketing director Henneke Duistermaat said: “Though induction cooking has been around for a while, we find that there is still a need to educate consumers on the benefits: safety, energy saving and controlability. We are seeing sales of induction range cookers continue to grow.”

The upcoming year looks like there’s going to be another healthy balance between classic trends and modern looks with a healthy lean towards ever changing technology and alternative methods of cooking. Rest assured, it’s going to be another exciting year.
