Celebrate the Holidays in… London with Confessions of a Design Geek

Hi again! How was your Christmas? Today we’re going to find out how Katie of Confessions of a Design Geek celebrated her Christmas and celebrates her holiday week! I’m sure you’re familiar with Katie but if you’re not, pop into her blog. It’s full of fabulous design resources. Oh, and Katie will be joining me in Cologne in just a few weeks! (YAY!) Please show her some love by commenting and visiting her blog!

Where do you live?

In a little village in the countryside about an hour away from London.

What is your blog about?

It’s about design – with a focus on design that makes people’s live better and new designers

What do you love about your city?

London is the design capital of the world (even the New York Times said so after London Design Festival 2012!) It is a vibrant diverse city where anything goes. There is something for everyone and you’re a “Londoner” as soon as you move there.

What is your favorite holiday site in your town?

Somerset House is always very Christmassy with the big tree and the ice skating rink. I also love the area around New Bond Street – the Christmas lights always look so pretty.

What is your must have holiday food in your town and where is it from?

Probably mulled wine and roasted chestnuts from the German Christmas market on the Southbank.

What is your must have holiday beverage in your town and where is it from?

Just covered that!

What is your favorite spot for a night out during the holidays?

I’m not really a night out kinda gal! A night in with an open fire, the Christmas tree and some old fashioned Christmas music is more my style.

What is your city’s unique holiday tradition?

I don’t know! Norway give us the Christmas tree for Trafalger Square every year, which is rather lovely of them! London is actually pretty deserted during Christmas week itself. I love wandering around – it’s like a ghost town!

What is your goal for the New Year?

To invest more time in making  confessionsofadesigngeek.com the best it can be.
