Celebrate the Holidays in… Mazerolles with Hege in France

Happy Friday! Can you believe the Christmas week is coming to an end? Well the fun’s not over yet! Today we are with Hege of Hege in France. Her small village in the French countryside sounds so relaxing, I may have to visit her for a few weeks ever year! I think her holiday is the perfect holiday. What do you think? Leave Hege some love, comment here and pop into her blog and say hello!

Where do you live?

We live in a small village in the French countryside called Mazerolles. We’re 2 hours from Bordeaux by car and about 2 hours from Paris by train.

What is your blog about?

My blog is mostly about interior design and DIY, but I also share a bit of our family life.

What do you love about your city?

My little village is nice and quiet. It’s a real change to busy city Edinburgh, Scotland where we used to live. It’s great for my son growing up here.

What is your favorite holiday site in your town?

We love going to the little town La Rochefoucauld and the Christmas market.

What is your must have holiday food in your town and where is it from?

In France people eat a lot of seafood at Christmas. We normally have oysters and lobster. My husband works in the industry, so we get seafood from Scotland at Christmas time. The oysters are from Ile de Ré in France. It all tastes fantastic!

What is your must have holiday beverage in your town and where is it from?

We always get a drink called Pinot. It’s from the Cognac area. It’s much weaker than Cognac and it’s a drink you have before a meal (an appero)  and of course being so close to Bordeaux we also have nice wine.

What is your favorite spot for a night out during the holidays?

We don’t go out much during the holiday, but spend time preparing food at home. We also make our own chocolate with marsipan, nuts and marsmallows. It’s delicious and easy to make.

What is your city’s unique holiday tradition?

I can’t think of any unique holiday traditions, but I think the most important thing is to spend time with your family.  We’ve made it a tradition bringing the outdoors indoors.. We always go out in the woods and pick holly, pine cones and sticks as decorations.

What is your goal for the New Year?

My goal for the New Year is to grow my blog. :)
