I wish you could see this collection with your own eyes, because these pictures do not do it justice. I’ve just returned from visiting IMM and Living Kitchen, thanks to Modenus! I was one of 15 lucky bloggers chosen to attend BlogTour Cologne, which has changed my view on global design. One of our sponsors was Axor and although I did a bit of research and saw some images of their new Starck Organic collection before I left for the show, I was in awe when I saw the pieces in person!
We were lucky enough to have a brief chat with head designer of Axor, Philippe Grohe. He teamed up with the renowned Philippe Starck to create this sustainable line of faucets and controls. Philippe Grohe spoke to us about what he feels “organic” means. He has a home in the Black Forest and he explained the simplicity of life in there. We New Yorkers wouldn’t dare to live without our modern conveniences. He spoke about his neighbor, and how she doesn’t need anything, because she makes do with what she has. She does this by using every last drop and recycling as much as possible, without realizing she is being kind to the earth. It’s a way of life. The environment is respected.
After three years, the Starck Organic line was completed. The faucet is made of a hollow cast, which uses less material than a typical faucet, and uses less energy to create. The water is run through pipes so it does not touch the brass at all, therefore it is completely pure, and is not contaminated prior to use. Lastly, half the amount of water is used, without losing any pressure. I thought this was fantastic! Of course we all want to be mindful of the earth, but clients and consumers do not want to sacrifice modern conveniences. Now they don’t have to!
In addition to the function aspects, the aesthetics of this line are beautiful. Whatever the position of the handles, they blend with the body very well and always reflect the perfect image. I’m not sure about the rest of the country, but here in New York, gold is really trending. So when I found out that this new line is also offered in a fabulous gold finish, that was the icing on the cake. What do you think of Axor’s new Starck Organic line?
