A 4-Story NYC Penthouse with a Slide!

Yesterday I saw an amazing apartment while watching Open House New York. I saw a feature about a 4-story penthouse in lower Manhattan with spectacular views. What made me stop in my tracks, though, was the slide which connects all four floors. The large metallic enclosed slide has a stop on each floor and a large exit on the first floor right into the dining room. The dining room exit is a focal point of the room.

The apartment was designed around the client’s profession and personality. The architect, David Hotson, really captured the client’s style while creating this space. The glass railings allow the clients to see all floors, creating an open environment.

In addition to the slide the apartment is very well designed. The furniture is chic, there is fabulous art throughout the apartment creating focal points as you walk through the space, and there are interesting details strategically placed. One example is the Moooi Horse Lamp placed in the living room.

I’m not usually a fan of floral print but when done in a bold, outrageous way it really makes a statement. The bright colors against the stark white walls look fantastic in this reading nook.

Yes, there is also a rock climbing column.

Unfortunately I couldn’t find the video on Open House’s site, it’s not up yet. I did find another video for you, which walks us through the home. Take a look at this video I found on Bloomberg.

I love watching Open House New York as well. Always great to see how people live in your area. The windows are amazing and I absolutely love the orange door.
