When BlogTour visited New York I was lucky enough to tag along and visit multiple spaces with the group. One of the most anticipated visits was the Fab.com office. Fab is a rapidly growing online retailer for well, fabulous goods! On Fab you can buy almost anything, from designer water bottles, to clothing and even vintage pieces and food fit for foodies. The key is, everything is designer, and approved by those that know design.
We arrived at the Fab offices in the West Village and were invited to the colorful conference room on the 8th floor. Immediately I noticed that the offices were well branded. Everywhere you turned the word “Fab” was engraved! The space was colored in Fab’s signature red and black with splashes of blues and yellows thrown in.
The conference room was interesting. The room was created by using large styrofoam(ish) blocks to create two of the four conference room walls. Although the blocks were a temporary divide they were quite sturdy and added visual interest to both the conference room and the space behind it. I thought the blocks were a clever idea as the company has been growing quickly and must need to renovate their spaces often.
Fab has two floors in the building. The main floor, which is home to the conference room, is also home to a photography, area where things are photographed for the site, and a beverage and ice cream station. Yes, you can get ice cream with several toppings at any time of day. FAB! This is a nice treat for employees. It’s nice to have a place to take a quick break, sit down, and maybe even have an informal meeting.
The next floor is home to a larger conference room with a large white board for hashing out ideas. Adjacent to the conference room is a space where new products are being developed. We weren’t able to photograph that space as things were still in the works, but I can tell you that while we were in the offices we got a glimpse into Fab’s newest collection Intaglio II, which was launched at Neocon. I was really excited for these pieces to become available, I’m totally in love with them!
As you walk through the space you notice the playfulness throughout the space. Each desk showcases the staff’s personality and the decor throughout the space has a lighthearted feel to it. There’s even a chalkboard in the Ladies’ restroom. (Maybe the Men’s too?) It felt like a giant playground with really cool things!
Thanks Blogtour and Modenus for brining me along. Visiting the Fab offices was a great experience!
