Design Crush: A Contemporary Hideaway in Cotswolds, United Kingdom

Have you planned your summer vacations yet? It’s mid-way through June and Ajay and I haven’t decided where we are going, and at this point we may not be going anywhere! We’re sorting out a few weekend mini-breaks including a weekend in the Hamptons, a wedding in Atlanta and a possible weekend in Texas but we’ve got to take time to confirm them all. I’m craving a relaxing weekend away from the world with beach, sun and serenity. So it’s only natural that I have a major Design Crush on a contemporary hideaway in Cotswolds I came across.

This modern rental property won the RIBA National Award 2012, and has six bedrooms in total; two double rooms in the cottage, and four emperor-size bedrooms (two of them en suite). The bedrooms have floor-to-ceiling glass doors which slide into pockets opening the rooms up to the outside.

The property is created of natural stone and fair-faced concrete interiors, which sets the tone for a minimalist interior. This luxury property has a sloping grass rooftop that buries the house into the hillside, so it feels as though it’s built into its natural surroundings.

The home is encircled by five sweeping valleys opening out to the River Severn. It has an expansive rooftop terrace which is a highlight in both the summer and winter for al fresco dining and star-gazing.
