Design Crush: Fashion Photographers’ Manhattan Loft

When I was growing up I knew I wanted to live in New York. I knew I wanted to live in a large Manhattan loft and I had it pre-designed in my dreams, even before I knew I wanted to be a designer. Somehow the dream loft never changed but when I finally did move to New York City (from 45 minutes away) I realized that I had to quickly adjust my dreams. The Manhattan loft I dreamt of wasn’t going to happen any time soon, and spaces are entirely smaller than I thought! While searching for inspiration last week I stumbled upon this gorgeous home of fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. It comes dangerously close to the design of my dream NYC home, so I had to share it with you today!

The large home, designed by Descience Laboratories, is a mix of several styles. It’s bordering on eclectic but is pulled together enough to look fabulously designed. Located in Nolita the home is much larger than most Manhattan apartments. It has a full sized kitchen that several people can cook and gather in, a spacious great room which contains a living area and work area, kid’s room, and master bedroom which is located on a newly created mezzanine.

The Dutch-born duo is well known in the fashion world and brings their unique style into their home by mixing several styles and patterns.

While the home is mostly neutral soft pinks can be seen throughout the spaces. At every turn there is a very decorated angle which flows well with the next turn. Although most of the home is styled it doesn’t look overly designed or cluttered.
