If you’re following us on instagram you may not noticed that Tina Ramchandani Creative has been invited to participate in this summer’s Picnic by Design presented by DIFFA. This year’s third annual Picnic by Design will be held at Midtown Loft & Terrace at 267 Fifth Avenue on August 13th. I’m excited to be one of 50 designers participating in this innovative summer event!
Designers were asked to create a picnic setting for two and to come up with a unique and inviting theme which includes a basket that represents our theme. I was inspired by my visit to Helsinki last year, when I attended Helsinki Design Week. I visited at the cusp of summer and fall and learned much about Scandinavian summers, how the locals relax and enjoy their time off and how they vacation and picnic. I decided to center my design around a typical Scandinavian and Finnish picnic and add a little New York twist. I’ve named my design “Shades of New York” and I can’t wait to share the completed look with you! Here’s a sneak peek, and I’ll be sharing more details on instagram, facebook and twitter, leading up to the August 13th event.
A little bit about Picnic by Design and DIFFA:
Hosted by DIFFA as a sister event to DINING BY DESIGN, Picnic by Design is an exciting new summer event that highlights design, food and fun for a good cause. Picnic by Design redefines the concept of a traditional picnic and aims to engage a new generation with DIFFA. Designers are provided with general basket requirements and their over-the-top designs are then sold online in advance. When guests arrive, they are escorted to their one-of-a-kind designer picnic set-up, which they take home with them after the festivities…a truly unique picnic setting, with proceeds benefiting DIFFA.
DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS is one of the country’s largest supporters of direct care for people living with HIV/AIDS and preventive education for those at risk. Merging care and commerce, supporters of DIFFA come from all fields of fine design and the visual arts, including: architecture, fashion design, interior design, photography and consumer product design.
Shades of New York was made possible by our generous sponsors who donated time and services:
There is about a week left and you can still purchase tickets to the cocktail party, and if you’re lucky you can still snag yourself a designer basket! I hope to see you next week and I would love to hear your thoughts on our picnic design!
